Ready or not, here I come! Welcome to Animal Crossing New Horizons: Hide and Seek (Competitive), where we'll be playing one of the oldest games known to humankind... hide and seek!
How to ParticipateRepresent your team by joining us in a round of Hide-and-Seek! The game is simple: you members hide on an island, and the staff host will try to find you. This island may be the staff member's island, or a participants' island.
How to sign up- Fill in the sign-up form below and post it in this thread.
If you're willing to let us play hide-and-seek on your island, please make sure to indicate this on the form! - When we figure out the participants for a session, we'll make a post and fill in the session table below.
We'll be trying to have 1-2 representatives from each team! We'd also like to let as many people sign up as possible. This means sign-ups are not first-come-first-serve.
Before arriving- Bring a ladder and a vaulting pole.
- Do not bring a wetsuit/diving suit.
- Please do not bring a change of clothes.
Changing clothes during the session will make it harder for the staff to identify you. If you want to dress for the occasion, do so before getting on the plane! - Be ready 5-10 minutes before the session starts!
Getting everyone onto the island will take a while. It's very likely that it will take us 10-15 minutes for everyone to land, and potentially longer if there are connection issues. - Please read the rules carefully! There are
During the session- Hiding phase: When everyone has loaded in, the staff host will walk into the airport or a building and start a 3 minute timer. Use this time to find a good hiding spot!
While stated in the rules, we would like to re-emphasize the following points:- Do not hide in buildings
- Do not hide in water (using a wet suit/diving suit)
- You are allowed to move during the seeking phase.
- Seeking phase: After the timer ends*, the staff host will start a 10 minute timer and start seeking.
- When the staff member finds someone, they will write a message in-game to indicate that they've found someone.
- If you have been found, please respond with a message (even just a single letter), just to make sure we have your name recorded correctly.
After the session (or after you're found)If you have been found, please do not leave the island or reveal where other players are. If you see someone while walking: pretend you didn't! Just walk on and sit at the airport or something.
- Wait patiently for every participant to be found (or for the timer to run out). Do not leave or end the session, or else you will be disqualified.
- If you are still hiding when the timer runs out, please stay put!
Enter a message in game so that the host can find you. This will help prove that you are actually still on the island (and not hiding in a building or in water.) We want to see your neat hiding spots! - Once everyone is finished, we will take a group photo. The island host will then end the session.

- Do not leave the session early. If you have to do so, please let the host know rather than just leaving quietly.
- Do not reveal where other members are. If you walk by one, just pretend you didn't see them.
If you hint at anyone's else's location before they are found, you will be disqualified. - In the event of a DC (disconnect) by "quietly leaving," the disconnect user should not re-join and forfeit the chance to earn points for that round.
- If you're uncertain about your availability or internet connection stability, request a substitute from your teammates ahead of time. Coordinate with your team if you need to swap time slots as well.
- Failure to comply with the rules may result in disqualification.
- Standard sportsmanship rules apply. Be respectful to everyone!
How to SubmitFor sessions you participate in:
- Take a screenshot of your hiding place while the timer is ongoing.
- Make a new thread in the TBTWC Submission board.
- Select Animal Crossing Hide and Seek (Competitive) in the 'Game' field dropdown, and your team in the 'Team' field.
- In the body of the thread, include the following:
- Date, time and host of the session you participated in.
- The aforementioned screenshot.
Nothing needs to be done on your part!
Game hosts will export a list of spectator activity and forward it to Jeremy, who will then distribute the points. As this is a one-man operation please do not report any missing spectator points for at least 48hrs after the session.
One session per thread, please! Do not submit for multiple sessions in the same thread.

🏝 About hosting on your island
Whether your island is fully decorated or not, we'd love to be able to play on a variety of islands! If you're comfortable with having so many people come by and run around, please read onwards.
If you say "Yes" to hosting, please be ready to prepare a dodo code for the session(s) you've signed up for.
You should be ready 5-10 minutes before the session start so that the staff member can arrive on your island and provide the dodo code to all participants.
Note: We acknowledge that the island host may have an advantage over other participants. However, in our playtesting sessions, the island host seemed to perform as well as other members. Additionally, as the staff host will also be unfamiliar with the island, this may result in more people not being found. As a result, we've decided that this trade off is acceptable, especially as visiting and playing on various islands is more fun.

In the case of one or more player not being found, they will all receive 30 points. This will be treated as a tie, and the players that were found will be moved down accordingly.
As an example: if 3 players are not found, then the last player to be found will be considered the "fourth last person to be found" and receive 15 points, rather than 30.
